Oisin Orr is enjoying a successful association with Dermot Weld and he will be seeking a third Group 3 win of the season for the trainer when he partners Jaega in the Munster Oaks (6.55) at Cork on Friday night.

Runner-up to True Self in the Listed Vintage Tipple Stakes at Gowran Park last month, Jaega will be visored for the first time as she drops two furlongs in trip for the 1m4f contest.

Weld said: "Jaega is a good, consistent filly. The easy ground will be a big help to her. She's in good form and we're hoping to get more black type with her."

Who's Steph, a dual Group 3 winner last season and successful at Listed level this year, is the highest-rated of the seven runners and is another who appreciates ease.

Aidan O'Brien, who has won four of the last five runnings, is represented by Chablis and Peach Tree. He said: "Both fillies are in good form. We're bringing Chablis back in trip and hoping she can get some black type. We've been happy with Peach Tree since her run in the Oaks."

Four White Socks, a novice winner for Luca Cumani last season, will be having her first start for Harry Fry, who said: “I’ve been happy with how she’s been going. She doesn’t face an easy task but we decided we’d head over with the hope of getting some black type.

"We’ve only had her a few months and we haven’t rushed her, but she’s ready to get started, so we’ll give it a go and see how she gets on.”

Good to yielding ground at Cork and a forecast for further rain was welcome news for Johnny Murtagh, who runs Urban Beat in the Listed Matchbook Straight Midsummer Sprint Stakes (5.50).

A Listed winner over the same five-furlong trip at Naas in April, Urban Beat was unsuited by the fast conditions when tackling six furlongs in a Group 2 at the Curragh on his most recent start.

Murtagh said: “He never let himself down on the ground at the Curragh. Ease is what he needs, so the more rain they get the better. He’s in good form.”

Urban Beat's 11 rivals include British raider El Astronaute, whose trainer John Quinn said: “I’ve been very pleased with him this year. He ran very well first time out and then produced a blinder in the Duke of York before not quite getting home.

“He ran well enough in a handicap last time but maybe it came a little bit soon after the Duke of York. He still ran a good race and we’ve been very pleased with him since. He’ll like the flat track and is in good order.”

Insignia Of Rank heads the weights for the Cork Derby Premier Handicap (7.25) and trainer Joe Murphy is expecting a good performance from the four-year-old, who won a premier handicap over 1m2f at the Curragh last month before disappointing in a Listed event over that same course and trip a week ago.

Murphy said: "Although he has run over a mile and a half only once, we think he'll get the trip. We were disappointed with him last time but he's in good order and we think he'll run a big race. I don't think ground is an issue for him."

Dermot Weld, who is represented by Tipperary maiden winner Hasanabad, said: "It'll be his first run in a handicap but he's progressive and, while it looks very competitive, I expect a good run from him."
