O'Brien still on a high after "crazy" reaction to Galway photos
Tommie O'Brien has described as "crazy" the online reaction to Racing Post photographer Patrick McCann's pictures of him crying with delight at Galway.
The Galwayman, son of trainer Val O'Brien, could not hold back the tears after partnering the John Neilan-trained Poormans Hill to a 50-1 victory in the bumper on Thursday, his first winner at the festival, and McCann's montage of his emotional reaction prompted an enormous response on Facebook and Twitter.
The 24-year-old amateur, who is based with Tom Lacey in Hereford, reflected yesterday: "The reaction to the photos that Patrick took has been fairly crazy! I've been going racing to Galway since I was seven - when I was younger Dad had three festival winners one year and when Half Barrell won there ten years ago I led him up.
