O'Brien heroine Found could go to Ascot and Breeders' Cup again
There could be little rest for the wickedly good Found with Ascot on Saturday week followed by the Breeders’ Cup on the agenda of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine, trainer Aidan O’Brien has revealed.
Found, who headlined her trainer’s remarkable one-two-three in Europe’s richest race at Chantilly on Sunday, competed in the Arc, at Champions Day and at the Breeders’ Cup last autumn.
If following the same programme she could be in line for a fascinating rematch with Almanzor, who beat her in the Irish Champion Stakes but did not contest the Arc.
O'Brien said yesterday: "Our three Arc runners came home on Sunday night and all of them seemed fine this morning.
“We'll wait until later in the week when we see how they are before making plans, but Found ran in the Arc last year before going on to finish second in the Champion Stakes at Ascot and then winning the Breeders' Cup Turf, and it's possible we might do something similar with her."
As well as the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot, for which she is 6-1 in a market headed at 7-4 by Almanzor, Found is also entered for the fillies’ and mares’ race on the same card.
"Nothing is being ruled in or out for her,” added O’Brien. “We've always thought the world of her and she again proved herself a very good filly on Sunday.”
A trip to Santa Anita for the Breeders' Cup is also one of the options for Arc runner-up Highland Reel, whose three Group 1 wins include last year’s Hong Kong Vase, a race that could again figure on his schedule.
O’Brien said: "We have a number of options for Highland Reel, who has been very consistent. He ran another very good race on Sunday.”
Regarding a possible target for Order Of St George, who completed the Ballydoyle-dominated finish to the Arc, O'Brien said: "He ran a very good race but what might be next for him is undecided."
This week O'Brien is set to be represented in both Group 1 juvenile events at Newmarket.
He said: "The plan is to run Churchill and maybe another in the Dewhurst on Saturday, while we're looking at running Hydrangea and Rhododendron in the Fillies’ Mile on Friday."
O'Brien confirmed Bondi Beach as his Emirates Melbourne Cup runner and said: "Sir Isaac Newton is already in Australia to run in the Caulfield Cup, while the Melbourne Cup is the plan for Bondi Beach.”
Alice Springs, who achieved a third Group 1 success when landing the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket last Saturday, is heading for the Breeders' Cup Mile, O’Brien added.
