O'Brien eyes Sussex Stakes for Churchill after St James's flop

Churchill: late non-runner in the Sussex Stakes

Churchill, who finished only fourth when odds-on for the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday, could be back in action in the Sussex Stakes, according to trainer Aidan O'Brien.

O'Brien said: "I'm not sure what happened to Churchill but he didn't eat up his food last night, which is unusual for him.

"It was very warm; that is the only thing I can put it down to. He never kicked in yesterday, maybe he just had an off day.

"I was obviously disappointed for everybody but they are only flesh and blood. The lads will decide but if everything was right we'd love to think of Goodwood if everyone is happy with that."

Churchill didn't eat his dinner last night as well as he usually does, but otherwise he seems fine
