O'Brien to appeal against Music Box ruling

Aidan O’Brien: relies on Deauville, Somehow and Johannes Vermeer in the absence of Minding

Aidan O'Brien has appealed against the penalties imposed on him, jockey Wayne Lordan and three-year-old filly Music Box following a race at Dundalk on Friday night.

O'Brien was fined €2,000 and Lordan received a five-day ban after stewards decided the running and riding of Music Box, who finished third behind stablemate Asking in a mile maiden, breached rule 212, which deals with horses having to be run and ridden on their merits.

Music Box, who was making her debut, made late headway and was beaten a length and a nose. The filly was banned from racing for 42 days. O'Brien said on Monday: "We decided to appeal against the penalties imposed and the appeal has been lodged with the Turf Club."
