Nottingham under threat as rain forces inspection for Wednesday fixture
Nottingham's meeting on Wednesday is under threat as the course has been forced to call an inspection at 8am on raceday morning.
The ground is described as heavy and, although Tuesday is forecast to be mainly dry with bright spells, the outlook on Wednesday morning is not so promising with 3-5mm of rain predicted.
No problems have been reported at Bath or Wetherby – the other turf meetings slated in Britain on Wednesday – but Leicester's fixture on Tuesday was cancelled due to the track being waterlogged.
Haydock's card on Friday was lost last week, while the same day's meeting at Redcar is under threat with the course waterlogged, and an inspection will take place there at 9am on Thursday.
Conditions at Fakenham for Friday, however, are said to be much better with clerk of the course David Hunter reporting "perfect jumping ground with a pristine carpet of green grass and ground not raced on since June 1".
Roadworks on the A17 mean anyone using that route should leave extra time.
Hunter added: "For those travelling from the north and Midlands I would consider going down the A1 to Peterborough and then taking the A47 to King's Lynn via Wisbech."
