Franny Norton was recovering on Saturday after sustaining a broken collarbone and three cracked ribs following a fall on Thomas Cranmer at Chester on Friday.

Norton was taken to hospital after the Mark Johnston-trained two-year-old clipped heels and fell over a furlong out but was discharged on Saturday.

Charlie Johnston, assistant to his father, said at Chester on Saturday: "I spoke to Franny last night and this morning and he's in good spirits all things considered.
