Jamie Bargary turns to an old friend on Monday as he hopes to kick on after reaching another landmark in what has been a breakthrough season.

The conditional jockey rode out his claim when scoring his 75th winner on Ballyarthur for his boss Nigel Twiston-Davies at Uttoxeter on Saturday but the grace period means he is still able to utilise his 3lb allowance on Colin's Brother in the £22,000 Boyne Cup at Ludlow.

"Saturday was a massive day," reflected Bargary, 23, who hopes that losing his claim will not hinder his progress.

Colin's Brother: will have the benefit of Jamie Bargary's claim

"I was with Nige on the way home from Uttoxeter and he said, 'Who uses people for their 3lb claim nowadays anyway?' So I'm hopeful that nothing will change.

"Numbers-wise I'm down quite a bit on last year but I've had quite a few really nice winners. I was lucky to hold on to the Imperial Cup but that was my biggest success and when you're riding for Nigel there's always a chance at Cheltenham as he runs a lot there, and I was lucky enough to get put up for Ballyhill there on New Year's day."

Bargary has won three times on Colin's Brother and said: "He's had his ups and downs but you couldn't fault him the last twice and it would be great if he could get the three-timer.

"It's a big ask as he's gone up in the weights and he's up in class. He's won over two and a half miles they should go a good gallop and he'll be finishing off strongest."

Raise A Spark, who ran a blinder on Grand National day in 2017, swaps Aintree for Ludlow this year.

He finished fourth at 50-1 in the conditional jockeys' and amateur riders' handicap hurdle that ends the meeting 12 months ago and was in the process of running another good race when he fell at the final flight at Perth five weeks later.

The eight-year-old has his first run since in the £14,000 2m hurdle at Ludlow and trainer Donald McCain warned: "He had a heavy fall at Perth and he had a setback over the summer so he's a little behind and I'd expect him to need the race a touch.

"He'll be busy over the summer and he may end up over fences but we've just got to get him started."

Robert Cowell is full of hope that Goldream can begin to recapture some of his former glories when he launches his 2018 campaign on the all-weather.

The nine-year-old was a top-class sprinter at his best, doing the rare Group 1 double of King's Stand Stakes and Prix de l'Abbaye in 2015.

He started last season with placed efforts in the Abernant Stakes and Temple Stakes and, though he was winless throughout the year, Cowell reckons he is back to form now.

"I think he's in outstanding shape," his trainer said on the eve of his comeback in a conditions race restricted to those without a Pattern race success since April 30, 2017.

"He looks wonderful in his coat and he's been training fabulously so I can see him putting up a pretty decent performance.

"He went off the boil a bit last season but he came back with a nice handicap run on his last start and I'd like to run him back up in class after this race.

"He needs to show something but I think he will, I can see a spark. He's well in at the weights and fingers crossed he'll run a good race."
