Hayley Turner has replaced Josephine Gordon in the Girls team for this Saturday's Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup at Ascot.

Gordon is required elsewhere by Hugo Palmer and joins Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori in being absentees from the original cast announced in April.

Turner, Britain's most successful female rider, retired in 2015 but returned this year to take a handful of mounts before announcing on Saturday she would be taking advantage of the 4.4lb allowance for female jockeys in France by basing herself there for the winter.

Ascot spokesman Nick Smith said on Tuesday: "We completely understand home jockeys with retainers have to honour those, and in Hayley we can deliver something unique as she'll be doubling up where she can in her ITV role.

"Of course, this couldn't have come at a better time, with Hayley having just announced she will be back riding full-time in France after this year's Flat season in Britain has finished."

He added: "Hayley has consistently been a tremendous ambassador for the event, and we're thrilled to have her back in the saddle."

Dettori has been replaced by Umberto Rispoli in the European team, while Fran Berry has taken the place of Ryan Moore in the British and Irish trio.
