Tudhope facing up to six weeks out after breaking collarbone

Danny Tudhope: broke collarbone
1 of 1

Danny Tudhope could be out of action for up to six weeks as a result of the broken collarbone he suffered in a fall at Newcastle on Thursday.

The leading Flat jockey was taken to hospital after favourite Belle Des Lawers suffered a fatal injury just before the two-furlong marker, sending her rider tumbling to the floor.

"I have broken my left collarbone but it is a fairly straightforward break," Tudhope said on Friday. "I went to see someone today and it should heal by itself. I will have another scan at the end of the month.

"I'd say it could take something like four to six weeks. I usually get injured every year and this is again unfortunate but hopefully it is my last one this year."

Tudhope enjoyed his best year in the saddle in 2017 with 122 winners and hopes to mount a challenge for the Stobart Flat Jockeys Championship, which begins in May.
