Written off by many for this after disappointing in the Peter Marsh Chase at the track on his previous start despite being beaten only by Thistlecrack in his attempt for a fourth Long Walk. The 11-year-old was sent off in front by Richard Johnson and the partnership proved too determined in the testing ground for favourite One Track Mind, who was five years his junior and upheld the form by winning a Grade 1 at the Punchestown festival on his next start.

His bid for a treble in this contest looked cooked when he made mistakes on the better ground and was headed at the second-last by odds-on Zarkandar, who went two lengths clear. But Reve De Sivola answered all Daryl Jacob's calls to rally on the run-in and win by a head to bring the house down.

A 36-1 outsider after being well beaten in the French Champion Hurdle at the track in June, Reve De Sivola had dropped away by the fourth-last after tracking the leaders and was ten lengths down at the last. But as the two leaders tired, James Reveley challenged between them to land a thrilling length victory.
