Quiet Reflection Temple challenge hinges on going

Karl Burke will make a late call on whether to run star sprinter Quiet Reflection at Haydock on Saturday, with the ground a key factor.

The dual Group 1-winning filly heads 13 entries for the 5f Armstrong Aggregates Temple Stakes but the possibility of a warm week in the north-west may prompt a rethink.

If she runs in the Group 2 Quiet Reflection, who won the Commonwealth Cup and Haydock Sprint Cup last year, will line up under a new jockey after Burke announced he had replaced Dougie Costello with Martin Harley.

Burke said: "If there's any 'firm' in the description she would be a doubtful runner, but she ran very well in the July Cup on very fast ground. At the moment the ground is good and no more rain is forecast according to [clerk of the course] Kirkland Tellwright. I'll be touching base with him again on Thursday morning but Haydock generally holds the moisture well."

He added: "The only other option we've got for a prep run for Ascot is Chantilly on June 4. That's still a possibility but I'd say we will leave it right to the wire and make a decision when I walk the track on Saturday morning.

"She's improved no end over the last two weeks and the last five or six days has really bounced back. She looked in great shape when she cantered this morning."

Acapulco is more likely to run at the Curragh, according to Aidan O'Brien, but stablemate Washington DC is an intended runner at Haydock.
