Leger winner Harbour Law facing longer on the sidelines

The 2016 St Leger winner Harbour Law will not return to training until later this year as he continues his recovery from a tendon injury.

Now five-years-old, Harbour Law has not been on the track since he finished third in last year's Gold Cup behind Big Orange.

"He's not come back in training yet but hopefully will do in the not too distant future," said trainer Laura Mongan. "We're trying to give him as much time as possible.

"He'll definitely be back – you can't rush it. I'd say all going well he'll be racing during the back end of the season, but it'd be too ambitious to set out any plans.

"The main thing is he comes back, and the more time he has for his leg to recover the better."

Mongan became the first woman to train the winner of the St Leger when Harbour Law beat Ventura Storm at Doncaster.

She added: "He's still with the owner [Jackie Cornwell] and being well looked after. I'm very confident he'll come back better than ever."
