De Bromhead targets Plate winner Flos at Sizing Europe race
Galway Plate winner Balko Des Flos could be seen next at Gowran Park next month, trainer Henry de Bromhead has revealed.
Balko Des Flos was given quotes of 12-1 (Sky Bet) and 20-1 (Paddy Power) for the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham – sponsored by the Galway winner's owner Michael O'Leary – after scoring last week, when his trainer had a memorable meeting.
"We were absolutely delighted with him and he seems in good form since," said De Bromhead, whose rising star has been raised 12lb to a mark of 158.
"I'd say we'll more than likely be aiming him towards the PwC Champion Chase at Gowran towards the end of September. That would look a nice target for him."
De Bromhead is no stranger to success in that Gowran Grade 2; indeed, he made the race his own with star chaser Sizing Europe winning it four times on the spin from 2011.
Not only did the trainer comes up trumps at Galway in the €250,000 Plate, he also landed the consolation contest with Riviera Sun, while earlier in the week Three Wise Men ran out a comfortable winner of a 2m2f beginners' chase.
