Conservative MP Crouch reappointed as sports minister
Tracey Crouch, who had responsibility for racing and betting under the last government, has retained her position as sports minister.
Conservative minister Crouch, 41, tweeted the news about her reappointment on Tuesday night and said she was "obviously delighted".
Crouch, the MP for Chatham and Aylesford, last year announced a review of fixed odds betting terminals in betting shops and has been quoted saying: "It is important that gambling regulations strike the right balance between allowing the industry to contribute to the economy and enable people to bet responsibly while ensuring consumers and communities are protected."
A reduction on maximum stakes on machines, known as FOBTs, could lead to shop closures and a figure of more than 4,000 units has been mentioned in some parts if stakes are limited to £2.
That would likely mean job losses in the betting industry and Crouch has also been quoted saying: "The issue blights individuals and communities and I am very passionate about it. I look forward to the review concluding."
Racing supporter Matthew Hancock, the conservative MP for West Suffolk whose patch includes Newmarket, has also been re-elected, while Karen Bradley retained her position as culture secretary following last week's general election.
