Aneen on easy list after finishing down the field in Guineas
Plans are on hold for Aneen after the filly pulled muscles when finishing seventh in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, trainer Kevin Prendergast revealed on Monday.
A half-sister to Awtaad, who was victorious for the stable in last season's Irish 2,000 Guineas, Aneen was having her first start of the season in Sunday's showpiece.
Prendergast said: “There are no excuses as she would never have beaten the winner [Winter] on the day, but she may have finished closer.
“Chris [Hayes] said she was never striding out properly and unfortunately she pulled muscles behind. She was quite lame this morning so we'll back off her now and give her some time to recover.
“She should be able to get over it pretty soon and we'll bring her back for a Listed race somewhere and try to get some black type.”
Mick Halford reported his 2,000 Guineas third Irishcorrespondent and Irish 1,000 Guineas sixth Rehana to have come out of their weekend excursions in good shape, but he will let the dust settle before making plans.
On Irishcorrespondent, Halford said: “He's very well and we'll probably step him up in trip for his next run, but where that will be, I'm not sure yet.”
Rehana, who finished fifth but was relegated to sixth following an incident that resulted in a one-day careless riding ban for Pat Smullen, is likely to drop down in trip for her next start.
Halford said: “The race didn’t go to plan as she was keen and there wasn’t a lot of pace. The ground had probably gone for her as well.
“The only thing we learned about her was that she probably doesn’t stay. We'll give her a chance to get over the race before making any plans, but she could run over seven furlongs next.”
