Altior and Special Tiara go head to head in clash of champions
The clash between the season's leading 2m novice chaser and the Champion Chase winner is on after Altior and Special Tiara were declared for the bet365 Celebration Chase.
Racing Post Arkle Trophy winner Altior, unbeaten in his last ten races including all five starts over fences, will face just three rivals in a race which could define whether he has the credentials to follow in the footsteps of former stablemate Sprinter Sacre, who won the race 12 months ago.
Special Tiara won the prize in 2015 and last month secured the biggest victory of his career in the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase.
The remaining opposition will come from Altior's own stable in the form of Vaniteux, set to make a quick reappearance after winning at Ayr last Saturday, and the Paul Nicholls-trained Aintree Grade 1 winning novice San Benedeto.
