2,000 Guineas runner-up Field Of Gold steps up preparation for Group 1 retrieval mission

Betfred 2,000 Guineas runner-up Field Of Gold stepped up his preparation for a retrieval mission in the Irish 2,000 Guineas on Saturday week when breezing seven furlongs on the Al Bahathri Polytrack gallop at second lot. 

Ridden by familiar partner Luke Catton, the Juddmonte-owned grey seemed as fresh as ever when moving ahead of a Group-placed stablemate.

Others of interest from John and Thady Gosden's Clarehaven yard included Ascot trials day winner Sardinian Warrior (Robert Havlin), who left his companion in the backwash in a similar exercise. He is entered in the Group 1 Prix d’Isphahan at Longchamp on May 25.
