Hollie Doyle mount a major mover as Perfect Power made clear Greenham favourite
Perfect Power is expected to further enhance his Classic claims with the Richard Fahey-trained runner cut to 6-4 (from 7-4) for the Watership Down Stud Too Darn Hot Greenham Stakes (3.00).
The ground at Newbury is good for the Group 3 event which has been won by Frankel, Kingman and Mohaather in recent years and is one of the traditional warm-ups for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas at the end of the month.
The Prix Morny and Middle Park winner has been clipped into 13-8 (from 7-4) with bet365 and he was as big as 9-4 on Friday morning. Angel Bleu, another dual Group 1 winner, has drifted to 9-4 (from 2-1) with that firm.
In the fillies' equivalent, the Dubai Duty Free Stakes (2.25), it is
Jumbly has taken over at the head of the market. He is 5-2 (from 1--30) while Wild Beauty has drifted out to 3-1 (from 9-4).
Meanwhile, Hollie Doyle's ride The Turpinator is a notable mover in the big betting race, the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing 30th Anniversary Spring Cup Handicap (3.35).
He was a nose winner at Kempton last month and has shortened into 11-1 (from 20s) to repeat that success for Tom Ward.
A warm, sunny afternoon is forecast at Newbury but conditions are unlikely to change according to clerk of the course Keith Ottesen. 5mm of watering was added to the track on Thursday.
"The home straight is just in the easy side of good and I think it'll hold but it's generally good and there's plenty in it," he said. "It's a beautiful day, I don't think it'll dry out by any means. There's a little bit of an easterly tail wind. It's just where we want to be.
"We watered in response to the better warmer weather coming for the weekend, and to give everybody the opportunity to run. This meeting is a massive starting point for a lot of horses, the cards are set up for it. The track is in good nick, we'll call it good but we'll see what the times and the jockeys say."
Musselburgh is the other track featured in the ITV4 coverage on Saturday afternoon and it is currently good to soft in Scotland.
Sir Rumi is the one being sided with in the £100,000 Betway Queen's Cup (3.14). The Richard Hannon-trained four-year-old is 4-1 (from 5s).
Musselburgh's clerk of the course Bill Farnsworth said on Saturday morning: "We had 11mm of rain on Tuesday and it's just dried out a little bit so it's good to soft. It's lovely ground for this time of year, it's very safe racing ground which is why we've got a lot of runners.
