Paul Rooney is itching to let My Dream Boat set sail for York and a tilt at Wednesday’s Juddmonte International, although the Group 1 voyage hinges on ground conditions on the opening day of the Ebor festival.

Rooney, who owns the Royal Ascot winner in partnership with wife Clare, is certain My Dream Boat is back in the same form that saw him spring a 16-1 shock in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes and is keen to get him back on the track to erase memories of a below-par effort in the Coral-Eclipse last time.

“Sandown was a disappointment but I think we ran him in the Eclipse too quick after Ascot,” said Rooney. “The Prince of Wales’s Stakes was a pretty hard race and when he was in the ring at Sandown he didn’t have his usual buzz.
