Muthmir missing as 12 stand ground for King George Stakes

Battaash bids to stretch his winning run this season to three at Goodwood on Friday
1 of 1

Battaash, the mount of champion jockey Jim Crowley, heads 12 declarations for Friday’s Group 2 Qatar King George Stakes at Goodwood, while

Unbeaten in two starts this season, the Charlie Hills-trained sprinter was particularly impressive when landing a Sandown Group 3 on his latest appearance.

Clive Cox runs both Profitable, who will be partnered by James Doyle, and the Adam Kirby-ridden Priceless.

Sir Mark Prescott’s smart performer Marsha is also in the field, but Muthmir, who was as short as 6-1 in ante-post betting, misses the race.

A full field of 20 will line up for the Betfred Mile, with ante-post favourite Blair House faring reasonably well in the draw. He goes from stall nine.

Proven mudlark Sir Roderic and the Mark Johnston-trained Masham Star are the two reserves. The cut-off point for reserves getting a start, in the event of one of the top 20 in the field coming out, is 1pm on Thursday.
