A recent spate of thefts from horseboxes at Musselburgh has led the course to issue a plea for staff, particularly horsebox drivers, to be extra cautious at its next meeting on October 11.

Boxes from the Tracy Waggott and Richard Fahey yards were among those targeted at Sunday's meeting, following a similar raid on Waggott at another recent meeting.

County Durham-based Waggott said: "When I went a couple of meetings back, I went to go round and get the horse and when I came back my purse had gone. I was only gone a couple of minutes.
