Musselburgh Mania and in-form Stott: three stats to help you find a winner today

There are three cards on Tuesday as Musselburgh, Chelmsford and Wolverhampton host some competitive racing. Here are three statistics that could help your midweek punting. . .

Musselburgh

There is no hotter jockey at the moment than Ryan Mania, who is on a magical run having won on his last eight completed rides.

Not only that, he is also enjoying a superb season at Musselburgh, winning on six of his ten mounts. That 60 per cent strike-rate equates to a level-stakes profit of £35.70 and he has two rides on Tuesday's card.

He rides Massini Man in the 3m handicap chase (2.13) for trainer Sandy Thomson, who has won with six of his last eight runners. Massini Man has form figures of 22412 under Mania and was beaten a short head on his most recent start over shorter.

Better Be Definite is Mania's final mount in the concluding bumper (3.43). He shaped with promise on his debut at Newcastle in December and his pedigree suggests he can do much better.

Chelmsford

The man to follow at Chelmsford is Kevin Stott, who posted a 33 per cent strike-rate there in 2022. The year also saw Stott land a career-best tally of 116 winners, so he is a man to follow regardless.

The in-demand rider has four chances on Tuesday's card, including Evenstar in the 7f maiden (1.30), who hit the line very strongly on her debut at Southwell last month.

She would not need to improve much to score, while Stott is also unlikely to be far away on the consistent Show Me A Sunset in the 6f handicap for older horses (2.00).

Stott's full book of rides:

1.30 4 Evenstar
2.00 1 Show Me A Sunset
2.30 3 Dancing Gypsy
3.00 9 Ostilio

Wolverhampton

Those who follow racing will likely recognise the white and red silks of Saeed Manana, and his runners at Wolverhampton are always feared. From 123 runners in the last five years, he has come away with 27 winners. In 2022, he had a 24 per cent strike-rate from 17 runners.

Just one runner represents the owner on Tuesday and it is Regal Empire, who makes his debut in the 1m1½f maiden (5.30). On paper it looks a very hot race, but odds of 12-1 could underestimate this well-bred son of Farhh.

There is plenty of stamina in his pedigree and although he might be better over further in time, his trainer James Tate's record with his two-year-olds is very strong. In the last five years, 22 per cent of his 158 two-year-old runners on the all-weather have won, with 45 per cent placing.
