The Ladbrokes-sponsored Munster National, which will be run at Limerick a week on Sunday, has been renamed to honour the memory of former top amateur John Thomas McNamara.

McNamara died in July aged 41, three years after being paralysed from the neck down in a horrific fall at the Cheltenham Festival.

The €100,000 event, which will be run as the JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National, has attracted 36 entries, with this year's Galway Plate winner Lord Scoundrel heading the weights on 11st 10lb.
