Morrison employee taken to hospital after parade ring injury
Hughie Morrison's head girl Barbara Dare was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading after being kicked by Top Beak in Newbury's parade ring before the mile handicap on Saturday's card.
Dare, who was led to an assessment area in a wheelchair, was close to the four-year-old – who finished 12th of 15 – as her husband Andy led him around.
Morrison said: "She's been attended to by the doctor and is in a huge amount of pain. I didn't see it happen, but she was guiding the horse as her husband Andy was leading it.
"She was trying to ensure a couple of people were clear of it and in her efforts to do that the horse double-barrelled her. It was one of those things, but she was doing her best to protect the public. I hope she's alright. She's been taken to hospital for further tests and x-rays.
Morrison has had an eventful week, having on Thursday been charged by the BHA after one of his horses tested positive for anabolic steroid nandrolone.
The trainer is convinced he is the victim of a malicious attempt to undermine his operation and has offered a £10,000 reward to anyone who can help clear his name.
