Course specialist Berlusca returns at Wolverhampton

Nine-year-old Berlusca is set for the 103rd start of his career at Wolverhampton, a track which accounts for seven of his 11 victories.

The son of Holy Roman Emperor first visited the course in 2011 and since then has won there for three different trainers, but never for current handler David Loughnane.

Berlusca, who last won at Haydock in June, will be partnered by Ray Dawson as he bids to set that record straight in the Betway Apprentice Handicap (7.00)

"He has a wonderful constitution and absolutely thrives off his racing," said Loughnane, "He's probably in as good an order as we've had him since he joined us in August last year.

"He's got a great attitude and absolutely loves it at Wolverhampton. We don’t work him too hard at home and save all his fast work for the races. He makes my job very easy and has been a wonderful horse for the owner Peter Ball, giving him some great days out."

He added: "He needs things to go right for him coming off the pace, but I'm hopeful of a big run from him. He's definitely one of the pets of the stable."
