Owners Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds have already tasted success today with Equality at Haydock and they have two runners in the 28-runner Cambridgeshire Handicap (3.40).

Dual Identity, trained by William Knight, is the shorter priced of the two but the one that has come in for the most support is the Andrew Balding-trained Carolus Magnus who is now 20-1 (from 33).

The four-year-old is no stranger to the Rowley Mile course having had four runs on it already that have yielded two wins, a second and a close fifth.

He showed that he stays further than a mile when keeping on over a mile and a quarter at the Shergar Cup to go down by just a length and could be a first win in this race for Balding.

The last two winners of this race have won at odds of 40-1, so it would be no shock to have another go in at big odds.

Savvy Victory 'very popular' with punters for Cambridgeshire at Newmarket

It's not just Carolus Magnus that has come in for support, as Savvy Victory is proving popular with punters and is available at 13-2 (from 15-2).

It takes a good three-year-old to land this race and the last to do so was the John Gosden-trained Lord North, who went on to land three Group 1s.

Paddy Power spokesman Paul Binfield said: "Savvy Victory is very popular with the jockey booking of Ryan Moore, who has never ridden him before, seemingly significant after his comfortable victory at Goodwood last month."

Trainer Sean Woods has always believed Savvy Victory to be a class horse and has run him in the Chester Vase and King Edward VII Stakes already this season, but the switch to handicaps has seen him regain the winning thread.

He lost out by a nose to the reopposing Protagonist on handicap debut before coming good in a Goodwood handicap last month for which he carries a 4lb penalty. He is still officially 2lb well-in.

Mischief Magic backed in Middle Park for in-form Charlie Appleby

Charlie Appleby has a phenomenal 40 per cent strike-rate with his juveniles this season, a record which punters have latched on to as Mischief Magic has been backed into 5-2 (from 7-2) for the Middle Park Stakes (3.00).

Mischief Magic is now second-favourite ahead of the Aidan O'Brien-trained Blackbeard, who won the Group 1 Prix Morny last month and is around 3-1.

Mischief Magic has won his last three and took the step into Group company in his stride with a two-length victory in the Sirenia Stakes at Kempton this month.

Appleby is looking for his first win in this race since he landed the prize with Charming Thought in 2014.

Karl Burke will be looking to current market leader Marshman for an upturn in form as the trainer is winless from his last 35 runners.

Marshman finished second in the Gimcrack behind another Appleby-trained runner, but Burke will be looking for him to go one better this time.

Going remains unchanged

There has been no change in the going at Newmarket and it remains good all over on the Rowley Mile. The forecast is for sunny spells, but there is a 30 per cent chance of showers.
