Henry de Bromhead said he was as shocked as anyone to see Minella Indo come down in the Savills Chase and will now send the RSA runner-up to the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown on the first Sunday in February.

Minella Indo remains second favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, priced between 7-1 and 10-1, despite his uncharacteristic fall over Christmas and De Bromhead wants to get in more practice at Leopardstown.

The yard's Savills Chase winner A Plus Tard is almost certain to go straight to Cheltenham, but last year's Gold Cup fourth Monalee is out for the season.
