Two million reasons to make a new year resolution after Scoop6 rolls over again

The Tote Scoop6, which has made a handful of millionaires over the years, is back in the limelight after holiday punters pushed the pool bet towards £2m waiting to be won in the new year.

After weeks of slow build-up since the last winner, a £377,818.60 payout to one ticketholder on November 10, the bet caught the imagination again on Saturday.

After 12-1 winner Carole's Destrier ended all hope with his success in leg five, the win fund carried forward to next Saturday was £17 short of £830,000.

The bonus fund total to be played for the following week, if anybody wins next Saturday, reached £637,448 resting on a nominated big race that day.

Even an 11.50am first of six races in Saturday's bet could not put off punters sniffing a big success as they piled in to push the win pool towards that £1m mark that sparks a betting frenzy.

Totepool spokesman Matt Hulmes said: "The Scoop6 has proved punters' nemesis in the closing weeks of 2018 but the opening Saturday of 2019 could prove very exciting with an estimated £2m in combined funds to shoot for."

There were winners from Saturday's Scoop6 with the place fund paying £528.90 to 257 tickets.
