Perfect Power is clear at the top of the Cartier Two-Year-Old Colt rankings following his impressive win in the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket last weekend.

The son of Ardad had previously shared the lead in the category after winning the Prix Morny last month and the Richard Fahey-trained star picked up his second top-level success of the campaign when a half-length winner of the 6f Group 1 under Christophe Soumillon.

That win saw him become the outright leader with 80 points and clear of National Stakes winner Native Trail, second on 48 points, with Point Lonsdale and Phoenix Stakes victor Ebro River further back on 40 points.

A stunning success for Tenebrism in the Cheveley Park Stakes on the same card has seen her shoot into contention to become the Cartier Two-Year-Old Filly of the year.

The daughter of Caravaggio maintained her unbeaten record with an electric turn of foot under Ryan Moore and the Aidan O'Brien-trained juvenile is now in fourth place in the rankings on 32 points behind Agartha and Sandrine (40) and Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine Discoveries (36).

The recently retired St Mark's Basilica still heads the Horse of the Year category on 160 points, but his position at the top could be under threat in a busy October which begins with the two-day Arc meeting at Longchamp this weekend.

The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe could have a significant impact on the rankings, with Derby and King George hero Adayar (100), Irish Derby, Grand Prix de Paris and St Leger winner Hurricane Lane (140), dual Oaks scorer Snowfall (136) and Tarnawa (32) – second behind St Mark's Basilica in the Irish Champion Stakes last time – all set to clash in a thrilling highlight of the Flat season.
