Mick Fitzgerald leads criticism as three jumps fixtures scheduled for Tuesday

Grand National-winning jockey Mick Fitzgerald has led criticism over the programming of three British jumps fixtures in the heart of the Flat season on Tuesday.

No Flat meetings have been scheduled in order to allow jockeys operating under that code a day off. However, Fitzgerald questioned the logic behind holding as many as three cards over jumps.

Jump racing has been blighted by small fields all summer and the meetings at Fontwell, Bangor and Worcester attracted 126 declarations between them, with an average of 6.3 runners per race.
