Chantilly's famous Piste des Reservoirs received an unwelcome delegation at the end of last week when a hungry party of wild boar went burrowing for food.

France Galop staff chased the scavengers away but the clear-up following their nocturnal activities has required the temporary closure of a section of the gallop.

"The damage is only superficial and covers 1,500 square metres of the track," reported Chantilly supremo Mathieu Vincent. "But we have had to close that part of the track. Since we chased the five boar off, I can tell you they haven't come back."
