Simple Verse makes triumphant return to Town Moor

The last time Simple Verse passed the post first on Town Moor, her connections were elated one minute and on the floor the next.

As exhilarating as the finish to the Park Hill Stakes was emotions were much more restrained yesterday, although trainer Ralph Beckett was understandably thrilled to get his dual Group 1 winner back on track.

The first of those top flight victories came in last year's Ladbrokes St Leger but victory was only confirmed 11 agonising days later at an appeal after Simple Verse was demoted into second behind the Aidan O'Brien-trained Bondi Beach following a controversial stewards' inquiry.
