Enable's performance 3lb shy of last year's win but still sets a fair standard
With upwards of 7lb in hand of her rivals on their best form, Enable faced a straightforward assignment on the figures in her bid to land a third King George, and with the defection of Anthony Van Dyck and a tame display from Japan, that task became even easier.
Despite the easy five-and-a-half-length success, Enable did not have to run to her best and a Racing Post Rating of 124+ falls 3lb shy of the mark she ran to when holding off Crystal Ocean by a decisive neck in a much stronger race last year. It's still a notable figure though, matching the level attained by the last older mare to win the race, Danedream, in 2012.
This was clearly a step forward from the Eclipse, and at her best she's still very much the one to beat in the Arc with the manner of this romp suggesting last year's 128 is still attainable.
