There was a sensational climax to the Scoop6 on Saturday as the £279,409 pot, which had not been landed for four weeks, was won by a £2 punter.

Having successfully negotiated the first five legs, which included the 18-runner Challenge Cup at Ascot and the 20-runner Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar, the winning punter's hopes rested on Norwegian raider Easy Road, who grimly clung on in a dramatic finish, in which the judge needed to call for a photo.

While there were celebrations for one gambler, there was despair for another who was relying on the unnamed favourite, Sole Power, who could finish only fifth.
