Davy Russell: expects to resume next week after not feeling up to riding at the weekend
Davy Russell: refused to take his remaining two rides at Clonmel on September 29

Davy Russell was yesterday fined €1,000 for refusing to ride two horses he was declared to partner at Clonmel on September 29.

Russell refused to ride Swantykay in a 3m novice chase and Not For You in a 2m2f handicap chase after being hit with a three-day improper riding ban, and a 14-day ban for his unacceptable behaviour in the stewards room after the three-days were imposed.

The former Irish champion had ridden Little Folke to a head victory in a 2m maiden hurdle. His mount was subsequently disqualified after camera evidence clearly showed that Russell's whip had made contact with the head of runner-up Solar Heat, who was awarded the race, three times in the closing stages.
