Ayr Gold Cup day crowd capped at 12,000 as course struggles with staff shortage

Ayr revealed on Thursday it has been forced to cap the crowd on Virgin Bet Gold Cup day due to problems finding staff.

Saturday's card is the first major meeting in Scotland since the final pandemic restrictions were eased last month and the track was given the go-ahead by the local authority to operate at full capacity. However, many courses and other venues have had staffing issues since lockdown was lifted and Ayr has limited attendance to 12,000.
