Ascot officials are recognised for their powers of persuasion when it comes to attracting top international horses for the royal meeting, but they also routinely convince some of the most exciting riding talents from around the globe to compete at the Shergar Cup.

This year is no different as Brazilian-born British champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa is joined by Japanese star Kenichi Ikezoe and record-breaking South African rider Gavin Lerena in forming the Rest of The World team.

Ikezoe, 37, has been associated with some of the best horses in Japan, including this season's Japanese Oaks winner Sinhalite and most notably Orfevre, the dual Arc runner-up.
