Magical and Ghaiyyath vie for horse of the year crown as voting opens to public
Voting has opened to the public to help determine the winners of the 2020 Cartier Racing Awards.
Winners at the 30th edition of the awards will be calculated through a combination of racecourse performances, contributions from an expert panel of journalists and handicappers, plus the votes of Daily Telegraph and Racing Post readers.
There are eight categories: Horse of the Year, Older Horse, Sprinter, Stayer, Three-Year-Old Colt, Three-Year-Old Filly, Two-Year-Old Colt and Two-Year-Old Filly.
In the latest horse of the year standings, the Aidan O'Brien-trained mare Magical and the now-retired Godolphin star Ghaiyyath are almost neck and neck.
Cartier's racing consultant Harry Herbert said: "In spite of the obvious challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 European Flat season has presented us with many memorable moments.
"The Cartier Racing Awards present a unique opportunity for the public to be involved in determining the champions of 2020.”
