Leading owner Max McNeill 'completely against' five-day Cheltenham Festival

Well-known owner Max McNeill has made clear his opposition to the prospect of a five-day Cheltenham Festival as it would dilute the quality of racing.

The Jockey Club has taken the first official steps towards potentially extending jump racing's biggest meeting with a consultation process, and McNeill is among those who have been contacted.

Any change would not be implemented until 2024 at the earliest and the proposal has divided opinion. On Saturday Nicky Henderson reiterated his support for the introduction of a fifth day, while Alan King said he was opposed.
