Leading Club Godolphin Cesarewitch hope Super Superjack has been ruled out of the £200,000 Newmarket handicap after suffering a setback.

The Milton Harris-trained five-year-old was priced between 9-1 and 12-1 for the October 8 contest but will not run again this season.

"Super Superjack has had a setback and won't run in the Cesarewitch," Harris said. "He's done for the season and he'll come back next year and go jumping. He's a good horse and jumps hurdles brilliantly."

Named after Manchester City and England star Jack Grealish, the progressive stayer won his first two starts of the season before narrow defeats on his last four runs.

On his last outing at Ascot's Shergar Cup, he finished sixth as the 15-8 favourite but was only beaten by one and a quarter lengths. Super Superjack has an official rating of 86, having started the campaign on 70.

Adagio (7-1) and Ahorsewithnoname (8-1) were the only Cesarewitch contenders shorter in the betting with some firms than Super Superjack, who was put up by Pricewise in his ante-post tipping special for the second leg of the autumn double.

Harris, who celebrated his first top-flight success when Knight Salute won the Anniversary 4-y-o Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree in April, hit a personal-best over jumps last season with 56 winners and just short of £600,000 in prize-money.

The dual-purpose Wiltshire trainer carried the form into the Flat season, sending out a new high of eight winners from just 48 runners at a 17 per cent strike-rate.
