Yorkshire Oaks and Champions Day on the agenda for Eziyra after comeback win

Eziyra set herself up perfectly for an exciting autumn with a smooth victory in the Group 3 GRENKE Finance Ballyroan Stakes on her comeback from nearly a year off at Leoparstown.

The four-year-old produced a number of classy performances last year, notably when finishing third to Enable in the Irish Oaks and winning the Enterprise Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend.

Partnered by Declan McDonogh in the 1m4f contest, the Dermot Weld-trained filly was settled at the rear as The King and Colm O'Donoghue, who rides Alpha Centauri in Sunday's Prix Jacques Le Marois, set a steady gallop.

Despite being out the back in a race with a steady pace Eziyra had no problems picking up the leaders, needed a firm but not overly forceful ride from McDonogh to assert in the closing stages.

Eziyra was the highlight of a treble for trainer and jockey, with Enable's half-brother Centroid and Betsey Trotter also winning, and the filly looks set to contest some major races in the months to come.

Weld said: "That was a very pleasing performance considering it was her first run for 11 months. She has strengthened a lot since last year and this was the plan, to start back here, and she has a lot of Group 1 entries in the coming weeks and months.

"She could run in the Yorkshire Oaks, we'll see how she comes out of this, with the Fillies and Mares at Ascot being a definite possibility later on."
