Ascot's Saturday card also features some intriguing races, but the standout contest in Britain is the Group 1 Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes () at Newmarket.

Further afield, Longchamp begins its two-day Arc meeting with two top-level contests, including the Qatar Prix de Royallieu, which was won last season by the David Menuisier-trained Wonderful Tonight.

The track also stages the Qatar Prix du Cadran, an historic staying contest that has been won by top horses such as three-time Dubai Gold Cup winner Vazirabad, Sergeant Cecil and Princess Zoe.

Sunday

All eyes will be on Longchamp again for the , one of the world's greatest races. The 1m4f highlight is set to feature Tarnawa, Snowfall, Adayar and Hurricane Lane.

The undercard promises plenty and there may be a fascinating clash in the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines between King George Qatar Stakes winner Suesa and last year's second Glass Slippers.

Another standout contest is the Prix de l'Opera Longines, which was won last season by the likely Arc favourite Tarnawa for Dermot Weld.
