Sam Twiston-Davies will break new ground on Sunday when he has his first rides in Jersey, two of them on the Flat.

The Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey, whose only winner on the Flat was ten years ago, is on board three chances for Neil Mulholland at the mixed meeting at Les Landes.

The 26-year-old said: "It's quite a strange mix, for me anyway, as I'm aboard Moayadd in a two-and-a-quarter-mile hurdles contest, Man Of The Sea in a five-furlong dash on the Flat and Molliana in a mile-and-a-quarter Flat race.

"I've never ridden in Jersey before, so it's a whole new experience and a very interesting one. I've had a couple of winners in Ireland and one in France in the past and it would be nice to add Jersey to those successes.

"It's all come about as Robbie Dunne, who rides plenty of horses for Neil, is out at present and Tom Scudamore, I believe, is elsewhere."

Twiston-Davies, who notched his 13th winner of the season on Stubborn Logic at Market Rasen on Friday, added: "It might be a first for me but Neil has sent plenty of horses to Jersey in the past with lots of success and he definitely knows what it takes to win over there.

"He has kindly handed me the baton to ride on this occasion and I'm sure it'll be a very enjoyable afternoon, even more so if we could have a winner or two.”
