Transfer window brings a chance to freshen up teams for York points bonanza

Serpentine wins this year's Derby, the last to be run under the Investec banner

It's time to look to the future with Tote Ten To Follow team sheets and ring changes that could make all the difference to your points haul over the rest of the season.

The transfer window opens at midday this Friday, August 14, and runs until 10pm on Tuesday August 18, with changes coming into effect in time for York's Ebor festival, which runs for the following four days.

Players can make two substitutions to their stables and will want to weed out those who are underperforming or who will be out of action for the rest of the season.

Then comes the tricky part of deciding who to bring in. Investec Derby winner Serpentine, who was still a maiden when the competition began and so was not on the original list, will be part of the new draft, as will Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby winner Santiago.

The full list of additions will be published in the Racing Post and on racingpost.com before the window opens, as well as a list of those on the original list who are now off the scene.

In contrast to the feast of scoring at York, just eight horses in the list won in the last seven days. Space Blues was the standout and became the fourth-highest winner in the competition when landing the Prix Maurice de Gheest. He added 33.2 points to his tally (74.3 in total) for the five per cent of stables which include Charlie Appleby’s colt.

Sunday’s other big winner was Regal Reality, whose Sovereign Stakes success picked up 25.1 points. Also getting off the mark were Well Of Wisdom (18.7 points), Veracious (14.8) and Tarnawa (25.7).

Konchek secured his first win since his May 2018 debut to bag 17.5 points, Happy Power was an easy winner at Salisbury to pick up 11.2 points and Chil Chil’s Ascot victory added 15 points to his tally.

Teleprompter1 went further ahead at the top of the leaderboard thanks to place points from Hello Youmzain at Deauville and has a 17.75 point advantage over Map17.
