Three runners worth noting at Haydock and Lingfield

Today's big race, the Darley Irish Oaks, takes place at 5.30, and there's plenty more action to get stuck into this evening with cards from Haydock and Lingfield. Here's three runners it could pay to note

6.15 Lingfield
Alexana

There may only be four runners for this maiden, but it contains some fascinating newcomers, including Alexana for William Haggas.

The filly has a smashing pedigree with Irish Leger winner Duncan among her relatives. Haggas has a 43 per cent strike-rate with his three-year-olds at the track on turf for the last five seasons (12 from 28).

7.30 Haydock
Berlusca

One of the veterans in the field at nine, Berlusca is a Haydock regular with two wins, a second and two thirds from 13 previous outings.

He has been running well over this evening's 1m2f trip of late, and although 8lb higher than his last winning mark, he has managed to win off higher in previous seasons.

8.00 Haydock
Paddy A

On his first try at 1m6f, Paddy A was successful at Nottingham last time out, and he bids to follow up off a 5lb higher mark.

Trainer Ian Williams is among the winners, and the four-year-old may well have more to offer at the trip.
