Three runners to look out for under the lights at Chelmsford

The action moves to Chelmsford this evening and, with an eight-race card and plenty of double-figure fields, here are three interesting runners.

Muchly6.15

Notable for being the selection of our Newmarket correspondent from a wide choice in this 7f novice for fillies, this daughter of Iffraaj has plenty going for her. Her sire has a 38 per cent strike-rate with his offspring on the all-weather and Muchly has a winning family history as eight of her ten siblings are winners. They include Simply Me, who won all her five races on the synthetic surfaces, and Cut And Thrust, who won his four on the all-weather. She is also drawn against the inside rail.

Contingency Fee7.45

A 4,200gns steal after a Brighton selling win this three-year-old could be the latest Phil McEntee winter bargain. He found 1m3f just beyond him when third at Kempton three days ago on his first start since changing hands. The downside as a horse who likes to race prominently is he has the widest draw to overcome but Rossa Ryan, just six winners short of riding out his claim, could get him out sharply to negate this and he is in better form than most of his rivals who find it hard to win.

Ace Master9.15

This Southwell and Wolverhampton winner makes a first visit to the track after going close at Newcastle last week. That showed the Roy Bowring-trained veteran is no back number at ten, being beaten by an unexposed three-year-old. His front-running style should be suited to this track and his handicap mark of 49 gives him every chance of a first win in two years, having been winning off marks in the 70s at that time.
