It was a weekend that will be forever remembered for the thunderous battle between Shishkin and Energumene in the Clarence House Chase and, with 73.6 per cent of Tote Ten To Follow players having Shishkin in their stables, there will have been extra loud cheers from those who have made Nicky Henderson’s star the second most popular horse in the competition.

Shishkin secured 26.84 points in the Clarence House, while Allaho, another widely picked horse, was also a winner of significance the next day at Thurles in the Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase, gaining 21.10 points for 41.9 per cent of stables.

At Haydock, there were plenty of points picked up, with Royale Pagaille leading the way. A repeat success in the Peter Marsh Chase delivered 24.9 for 7.9 per cent of stables.

Minella Drama was another big Haydock points scorer, gaining 24.53 from his Altcar Novices’ Chase success, while Tommy’s Oscar moved into fourth in the leading horses table with 22.68 points from the Champion Hurdle Trial taking his total to 68.42. Just 0.1 per cent of players picked Ann Hamilton’s charge at the game’s flagfall.

Jonbon also moves on to the leaderboard top ten on 58.71 points thanks to 22.5 from his Rossington Main romp. He was more highly regarded as he figures in 5.1 per cent of teams.

There were also notable wins for Molly Ollys Wishes (24.03 points) at Ascot, while Two For Gold (25.4), Top Ville Ben (17) and Metier (15.25) struck Winter Million gold at Lingfield.

The points deluge from three days of high-quality action means a new name tops the leaderboard. John Jokers 2 has Jonbon, Allaho, Shishkin and Royale Pagaille in his squad and so enjoyed a huge weekend. He is on 427.07 for the season, with Just William 3 9 in hot pursuit on 412.55.
