Richmond Stakes winner Golden Horde set for Group 1 mission in Morny
Golden Horde, winner of the Qatar Richmond Stakes at Goodwood last week, is being lined up for a Group 1 mission at Deauville on August 18.
Clive Cox, whose two-year-olds have hit form recently, has earmarked the Darley Prix Morny, which the Lambourn trainer won with Reckless Abandon seven years ago.
Cox said: "All being well, Golden Horde will head to the Morny at Deauville. I'm delighted with the way he's come out of the race and I was very pleased with the display.
"It was a very professional performance – he's only now just coming to the boil and it's still early days with him."
Golden Horde, only fifth to Arizona in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot after winning a Windsor novice on his second start, took a big step forward to beat Coventry runner-up and hot favourite Threat in claiming the Richmond.
Cox, who made a slow start to the season with 15 winners in the first five months of the year, sent out Streamline to win on the all-weather at Kempton on Monday to make it 11 two-year-old winners this year in his score of 43.
Positive, another of his leading juveniles, could run next in the Group 3 Solario Stakes at Sandown after finishing second to unbeaten Classic contender Pinatubo in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood last week.
Cox added: "He's very promising and the Solario could be a possibility or if we need longer there is the Champagne at Doncaster. I’m delighted with his progression.
"There was a lot of recent form in behind him at Goodwood and he was the least experienced in that field."
