Colin Kidd believes he will never train a horse as talented as Rashaan again after the 13-time winner, who beat Apple's Jade and Petit Mouchoir in a Grade 2 at Down Royal three years ago, was sold to America.

Rashaan earned £219,582 in prize-money over his 42-race career, in Ireland, which included eight hurdle wins, three victories on the Flat and a Grade 3 novice chase at Galway, where he beat subsequent Grade 1 winner Ornua.

Kidd said: "I felt the time was right for him to move on as he had become too hard to place here. He was caught between two stools.

"He was too high in the ratings to run in handicaps and he had a 10lb penalty to carry in Graded races for winning at Fairyhouse, so we would have had to pitch him into Grade 1s, which wasn't fair on the horse."

The trainer added: "We got a good price for him and everyone was happy. I will be very sad to see him go and he was without doubt the best horse I have ever had, or will ever have. I doubt I will ever have one as talented as him again. He was sound and healthy his whole life and was a treasure to train. He was a remarkable horse really."

Asked for his own personal highlight, Kidd replied: "The novice chase he won at Galway last year. A lot of people told me he was too small to jump fences but he went and proved them all wrong.

"We went into a juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown a few years ago as ante-post favourite for the Triumph Hurdle. That is the stuff that dreams are made of."
